Paternity & Father Child Custody Options

  • Oregon House Bill 2941 that would permit man to petition court to reopen issue of paternity if blood tests show zero percent probability that man is father of child. Establishes conditions under which court may render judgment of nonpaternity.

  • Woman pleads no contest in paternity test-fix case, September 1, 2004. The second of two women involved in fixing a paternity test pleaded no contest in court. Gina K. Mechler, 38, of 1425 Diana Drive, Brunswick, will be sentenced Oct. 1 for supplying a toddler for her friend to use in the court-ordered test.

The paternity test was ordered earlier this year as part of divorce proceedings for 37-year-old Kimberlee L. Pfahl, of 9845 Crow Road, Litchfield Township.

Records show Pfahl didn't want her husband, David Pfahl, 39, to have anything to do with her 2-year-old daughter, so she solicited Mechler, a coworker, to procure someone else's child for the test in March. Mechler reportedly did so under the guise of setting up a play date with the child of an acquaintance.

  • Official: State child support agency has corrected problems, Santa Fe, NM. Sep 1, 2004. Legislation passed last year will improve collection even more. That bill lowered the interest rate on back payments, set a statute of limitations for establishing paternity and provided for an amnesty program to allow the state to forgive penalties and interest.

  • Test Confirms Marc Anthony Not Father of Child, August 24, 2004
